TASTE OF THE WILD - A Celebration of Animals and an Evening of Food, Wine & Fun!
Held annually, "Taste of the Wild" is the sanctuary's largest fundraising eventyear, and we have so many great things planned this year's event! The 2016 installment celebrated all kinds of great fun, food and entertainment! The theme was "Route 66", which was a huge hit with everyone who attended. It featured all things 1950's and 60's, from music and entertainment to cars and food! With vintage road signs and decorations we truly were transported back to that iconic era. Cruising down old Route 66, stopping at kitschy hole-in-the-wall attractions - there are just some of the nostalgic feelings we elicited with the event. Like every year, restaurants, wineries and breweries from all over Arizona offered tastings from their menus; there was live music (the 2016 headlining band was Sky Daddy and the Pop Rocks) and different types of entertainment (vintage movie area, gambling tables, a jukebox & dancing area, etc.); a silent auction with amazing items; and behind-the-scenes visits and special presentations with some of your favorite animals!
As we're a 501(c)(3) organization that receives no city, state, or federal funding, the proceeds from this fundraiser directly support the animals and education programs at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary; providing food, triage supplies, and housing needs not only to the animals we have on grounds, but also the hundreds more we'll see come through our gates in need of our help.
Thanks to everyone who attended and helped with the 2016 event. It was a great success and we raised a lot of money for the animals. It was probably our most successful event to date as everyone seemed to have a great time. We're already looking forward to next year!
The latest installment of this event was held on Sunday, October 9, 2016. We'll soon start planning for the 2017 event - so keep checking back for updates and news!
