Sanctuary History

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary in Prescott, Arizona, opened its doors to the public in 1988. It stated as a home for misplaced animals and native wildlife deemed un-releasable after rehabilitation.

Today it has become one of Northern Arizona’s little-known treasures. Through the years, this rescue facility has grown to house a collection of over 150 indigenous and exotic animals.

Wildlife may find a home at the sanctuary due to injury, "imprinting" on humans, or any condition that prevents its survival in the wild. "Surplus" animals from other zoos, exotic animals seized from private ownership and “pets” people can no longer take care of have all found safe haven at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary.
